When Sam Lax®, the creator of the Odyssey Collection™, gave Rose Magda an Odyssey Collection™ pendant that depicted the planet that rules her Zodiac sign, Rose Magda said: “Sam, they’re really nice, but you need more ways of showing your designs”.
Sam replied that he already had other ways of showing his designs in the works: 11-ounce colbalt-blue ceramic mugs and 13-ounce crystal executive tumblers, both imprinted with the design in platinum metallic ink, tee shirts and watches.
Rose Magda asked: “Why not a series of paintings, each depicting one of your designs?”

People are fascinated with astrological signs. Astrology is a “science“ dating back to the ancient Egyptians. What we are most familiar with comes from the Greek and Roman civilizations, before the time of Jesus and Christianity.
As we know, each astrological sign (of the Zodiac) was named after a constellation of stars: Aquarius, Pisces, Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius and Capricorn. What many people do not know is that each sign is ruled by either a specific planet, the Sun or the Moon, and that each planet was named after an ancient Roman God. Each God had areas in which he ruled; therefore, we call them planetary rulers. In these modern days, with our universe getting smaller (even though it's actually expanding) and with our increasing awareness about our own planet, the Odyssey Collection was born.
THE ODYSSEY COLLECTION™ was conceived by Sam Lax®, and the original drawings based on Sam's concepts were created by Karin Swildens, internationally-acclaimed artist and sculptress.
